It was first developed in 1990 by the Howard Hughes Corporation, which also developed master-planned communities like South Bend and Newport Coast near Los Angeles. The community was named after Jean Amelia Summerlin, a real estate developer who helped fund the project alongside her husband Howard Hughes Sr..

Summerlin is a great community that has grown over the years and now sprawls over 30 square miles and boasts more than 150,000 residents within its borders. Summerlin is home to several major institutions including UNLV’s William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration and Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa. There are over 2 million square feet of retail space within Summerlin as well as 10 country clubs and many public parks spread across its 31 zip codes that make up this beautiful desert oasis just outside Las Vegas proper!

Summerlin is known as a golf oasis

Summerlin is a great community for an active golfer. The community of Summerlin is home to 7 golf courses that are open to the public and three private courses. If you’re looking for a new way to spend your free time, we recommend trying out one of these courses.

Downtown Summerlin is home to both the Las Vegas Ballpark and City National Arena. The Las Vegas Aviators play their games at the Las Vegas Ballpark, a baseball stadium located in Downtown Summerlin. The Aviators are part of MLB’s Pacific Coast League, which is considered Triple-A level baseball by Major League Baseball standards. City National Arena is located just across the street from Downtown Summerlin, where it serves as practice facility for both the NHL Golden Knights and UNLV men’s hockey team. It is connected via pedestrian bridge over Rainbow Boulevard (SR 582) with T-Mobile Arena, home of the Golden Knights who play in Southern Nevada since 2017 as well as other entertainment events.

Downtown Summerlin has over 30 different restaurants to dine at. You can find anything from a quick bite, to a romantic dinner or even some of the best sushi Las Vegas has to offer. There are several great choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner all within walking distance of each other!

If you’re looking for something quick and easy then go to Crepe Cafe or Zuma Tacos Y Tequilas. Both locations are right on Town Center Drive so if you’re driving around downtown Summerlin it’s easy to find these two places without having to worry about parking. Both restaurants have an amazing selection of pancakes, crepes and tacos that everyone will love!

If you want something more upscale then try out one of the many Italian restaurants such as Carmine’s Chicago Italian Restaurant & Sports Bar or The Cellar by Michael Mina located inside Tivoli Village within walking distance from Downtown Summerlin too!

Community boasts multiple well kept parks and over 200 miles of hiking trails.

With more than 200 miles of hiking trails, two dozen well kept parks, and a variety of outdoor events to choose from throughout the year, Summerlin is a great place to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. The beauty of Summerlin lies not only in its ample green spaces but also in its close proximity to many other destinations as well: Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (just 15 minutes away), The Strip (30 minutes) and Red Rocks Amphitheater (15 minutes).

Summerlin is a great community for adolescent learning. Several colleges and specialized higher education facilities are also located in the community.

Each community has different amenities and features. The three communities are located within their own section of the master planned community of Summerlin in Las Vegas. The communities range from an urban environment to a more rural setting with lakes, trails and parks.
